Peugeot 905 Evo Bis LM. 1992.
As the mighty Group C era came to a close, the new 3.5 litre regulations saw Peugeot launching a serious assault on the 24 hour classic. The first time the new cars ran was in 1991, but with 2 cars entered, both failed to finish. The 1992 race featured a reduced grid after Jaguar and Mercedes had pulled out, Peugeot stayed - as well as two Japanese manufacturers, Toyota and Mazda.
In a rain affected race rain, Peugeot finally triumphed marking their first of 3 victories. The 905 winning again in 1993 in an emphatic 1, 2, 3 finish and then for a third time in 2009 with the 908 HDi FAP.
The driver lineup featured all ex-F1 drivers - Yannick Dalmas, for the first of his four wins, Derek Warwick and Mark Blundell.
