1925 Alfa Romeo P2
Having won on its race debut at the Circuit de Cremona in 1924, driven by Antonio Ascari, the P2 went on to win the inaugural Automobile World Championship in 1925 including outright victories at Spa and Monza.
The P2 was the first race car design by the legendary Vittorio Jano - powered by a straight-8 engine featuring 2 Roots-type superchargers and 2 carburettors.
The car illustrated here is the winner of the first Belgian Grand prix to be held at Spa Francorchamps and was driven by Antonio Ascari. The car featured the truncated tail to enable the car to carry spare tyres.
