Jaguar collection
From motorcycle sidecars to Le Mans glory.
Jaguar began life as the Swallow Sidecar Company, formed in 1922 by two enthusiasts - William Lyons and William Walmsley. This evolved quickly from making sidecars to developing road cars under the SS cars brand. The name was changed to Jaguar Cars in 1945. The Jaguar name became forever etched in motorsport history during the 1950s, with major successes, especially at Le Mans with the C-Type and D-type sports racers. These iconic racers were quickly followed by the lightweight E-Type in the '60s.
In the 1980s, a successful relationship with Tom Walkinshaw Racing brought major success with the XJS in the European Touring Car Championship (winners in 1984) followed by a series of Group C cars competing in the World Sports Prototype Championship. The pinnacle years in Group C saw major success from 1987 onwards, winning Le Mans again in '88 and 1990, followed by winning the 1991 World Sportscar Championship with the XJR-14.
