250 GTO chassis #3767GT
Bought by Ferrari regular David Piper in the autumn of 1962, the car was painted in Piper’s customary green (believed to be ‘BP green’ as part of an early sponsorship/commercial arrangement with the company). Proud owner of numerous competition Ferraris including GTOs, 250 LMs and 330P4s, Piper campaigned this particular GTO in various UK events, the Tour de France and his personal favourite 9hrs of Kyalami throughout 1962, then Sebring, Spa and the 1000 kms Nürburgring in 1963 - which is the version illustrated here.
The car featured 3 wing/fender vents, bonnet louvres and unusual reversed clear plastic scoops on the rear of the bonnet/hood.
The car featured finished up 6th overall at the Nürburgring, where Piper co-drove with Ed Cantrell - Piper’s last race in this car before selling it to Cantrell for his Angels Aviation Racing Team in Los Angeles, USA.
