250 GTO chassis #4153GT
This GTO has had a particularly varied career, beginning its life in French hands, before acquisition by Ecurie Francorchamps in Belgium. Painted in the customary Belgian colours, the car has always been silver, but has sported a transverse yellow nose stripe and a nose-to-tail red/blue/black tricolour stripe at various times in its life.
Throughout 1963 and ’64, the car had mixed success, the most notable result being 1st overall in the 1964 Tour de France - driven by Lucien Bianchi and Georges Berger, the car having now been sold to Frenchman Marquis Philippe de Montaigu. This is the version illustrated here.
The car continued racing until 1968 - in a wide variety of events, including hillclimbs, rallies and races throughout Europe and North Africa.
